Strawberry

The phrase is not a guarantee of safety by itself. It only becomes meaningful when the system clearly specifies what the person sees, what choice they make, and which actions cannot proceed without that choice.

Human-in-the-loop AI keeps a person involved at a defined point in an AI system’s work, usually to review, correct, or approve an outcome before it matters externally..

A human in the loop needs a real decision to make.

A person may be asked to label data, decide an ambiguous case, select between options, approve a proposed action, or stop an unsafe run. The role should be tied to a specific boundary.

“Human oversight” is vague if the system can still send the email or change the record without waiting. A genuine loop blocks the consequential step until the responsible person accepts, edits, or rejects it.

Review quality depends on the evidence in front of the reviewer.

A useful review shows you the target, the proposed change, the reason, and the evidence used to arrive at it. A reviewer should be able to check a price source, a customer thread, or a record field without searching through dozens of tabs.

If the review screen hides the important context, the human becomes a rubber stamp. That is neither efficient nor a meaningful control.

Not every step deserves the same level of friction.

Keep routine reading and low-risk preparation moving.

Add stronger human review as the potential impact rises: public communication, legal or commercial commitments, sensitive data, financial actions, deletions, and material system changes.

The goal is not to insert a person after every harmless click. It is to place the person where their judgment changes the result.

A good loop improves the next run without hiding responsibility.

The human’s corrections should improve the process: a rejected outreach draft can refine tone rules; a corrected data match can clarify the evidence threshold; an escalated exception can become a new stop condition.

A Strawberry skill captures a proven workflow, and a routine can repeat it. Neither removes the person responsible for approving an external consequence.
